i really enjoy the brushstrokes here. there is a certain flesh-n-blood quality to them and the colors used. right on! likewise, i'll celebrate any quote urging one to live for self-realization.

Thanks! Yeah...that's from real brushes on REAL paper. No piece in this account is produced all-digital.
YESSSS KIRYU IS THE MANNN
I think the stylization here is cool, but it could definitely use some cleaning up, depth, and background work! but the heart is there!
the bigger meaner mouth is so awesome tell him i said that idc if he is mean about it!
the stippling lettering is very cool and consistent throughout!
bukowski used to be my fucking JAM years and years ago.. if you like him I also recommend Everette Maddox,, he wrote in a similar fashion (not as an imitator though) with focus on New Orleans and romantic love as opposed to sexual.
Thanks! I'll have to check out Maddox soon... Bet his living in New Orleans gave him plenty of subjects to write about!
I do have an actual poem by Buk in here as well..."Victory".
must've taken a steady hand, to be sure!!
i think the lettering style adds much to the quote and vice versa.
I'm curious as to what the scribbles are, they seem to prop up the quote almost.
The "scribbles" are parts of the watermark. :-(
If it weren't for the current online climate being the way it is, I wouldn't have to deface my work with such things.
detailed with whimsy. really cool, the vision is so strikingly clear throughout.
very eerie,
I love how the lower third of the piece is created with as much care as the figure's head and the looming beast beyond. it carries that sort of Jasper Byrne / early Silent Hill quality of tenderness amid the horror.
thank you for sharing :)
Thanks!! Silent Hill is a huge influence for sure and I actually listen to Jasper Byrne's music very often, especially those sonic albums :))
thank you 4 the bread christian jesus maruki
omg sacred route achievement
very striking clash of halftone and otherwise!
I think the blues you're using match so well with the mauve and the form feels deeply human and sincere. I like the little bolts of electricity near the shoulders a LOT as a light detail touch.
The heart too, feels very ooshy and thick with core fluids n stuff!!
I would say that, in light critique, the face can feel a little flat in parts, particularly in the nose, tears, and eyes. Noticing the blank space where the subject's left arm would be is also something I did.
That being said, I still love the patchwork frankensteinian approach, and I also want to reiterate that I really relate to and appreciate the body form.
thank you for sharing this :)
i really like this sketch, you've really captured something in the face that feels very real, impossibly layered!
Thanks!
